I wanted to say that Madelyn is my best friend in the whole wide world.  She is there for me and I am there for her. We have been friends since kindergarten.  In second grade something big interfered with our friendship, but by fourth grade it was all cleared up.

Madelyn and I have not fought in years. I think the reason that we are so close is that we are almost exactly alike, so we have nothing at all to fight over.  I really love having a friend that is always there for me and always will be. I don’t know what life would be without a best friend like Madelyn.

Right now I am not loving home school at all. I don’t like being away from my friends and I don’t like being at home all the time.

My dad said that the rumor has it we will not have school until late April or possibly the rest of the year.  I will have a   Guaranteed  Meltdown if that ever happens. I have been really lucky that my dad has let me use his computer to do all of this classroom work.

I just heard that school is closed for another month. I am so upset. I just miss all of my friends and I am almost getting bored staying home all of the time now.

I had just finished this book called the other day called the Hunger Games. If you don’t like violence than this book is not for you. It is about this girl named Katniss Everdeen and she has spent a lot of her life hunting and putting food on the table for her sister and her mother.

There are twelve districts which are there word for towns, ( Katniss lives in district twelve) the hunger games is this game where you put your name in a drawing and one boy and one girl are chosen to go to the capital ( which is the big rich city ) to be put in an arena to fight for death. Katniss’s sister is chosen to go fight in the hunger games. Katniss volenteers to take her place.  She goes on this train which is to pick up the other kids on there way to the capital. the boy that has gotten chosen out of  district twelve is a boy that has a crush on her.

In the story Katniss learns to love and how to survive on her own and at the end her and the boy win the hunger games.

A perfect summer after a perfect year, school started.  I moved that summer to Brockett community School in Vermont. We were crime fighting heroes, we also met the three bullies other wise known as the TAM club. In 4th grade,  my best friend Aki moved to Paris, I couldn’t save her.

“My first day of fifth grade at my new school I am so excited!” Bug squealed to herself. Bug ran down the stairs to see what her mom was packing for lunch. 

“Hi darling, I packed you a macaroni and cheese with bits of hotdogs in your brand new blue thermos”.  Mom said as she squeezing lemons for lemonade.

“Mom I don’t have a thermos.”

“You do now! I ordered one for you online last week”. “THANK YOU! THANK YOU,

MOM! THANK YOU SO MUCH!” Bug shouted and hugged her mom. Bug has always wanted a thermos.

“I also packed you oreos and an apple”.

“Thank you mom.”

“Sweety, you are my big fifth grader anything for you”. Her mom said sighing.

“So mom can I have a phone then?” Bug asked convincible. “No.”

Honk! honk! the bus came. “By mom.” Bug said grabbing her lunch and running to the bus.

“Beetle!” mom called go get in the moving truck please. “Bye, bye walls, bye stinky rats in the fridge”. I said walking around my old house with nothing in it. I am moving to Ottawa, Canada.

I went to Seal Cove School in Williamstown, Vermont. I am going to someplace called Laplante elementary school my mom was saying.

                                  Bug

I think I am having second thoughts about this brand new school thing, I mean, I have no friends, I am going into 5th grade and most of the kids have friends and they have been there since first grade.

How could I only have one friend last year? The plan was that her and Aki were going to transfer together but Aki moved to Paris. Bug thought. of all the fun they had together. The bus pulled to a stop ‘oh no, I’m at school!’  She got off the bus and slumped down the hall with a lump in her throat and a tear in her eye.

 Not from the onions in the cafeteria, ( but that was half of the problem) it was because she would not have any friends she would have to start all over with the friend making process.

  Aki was the only girl that thought Bug was a cool name. Some of the girls said over the summer that the  girls at that school will slice your heart in half and make you cry like the doofus are! Well in my defense that was the sassy girls. ( which were way too young to be sassy)

I don’t care! I don’t care! I don’t care! I don’t care about them.

 I was thinking.

I straightened my back and lifted my head and strode down the hall with power.

I packed up my things and we hit the road. Later we got to Mini – Marc, we pulled up to a weird house on a weird road. I got out, grabbed my single bag and walked inside.  Wow this place is weird.

This week I am not going to school, my parents say I need to unpack my things and get used to the new house. 

Next week is Labor Day weekend so it makes time to unpack my things.

“So here is your room,”  said my mom.

“It’s plain!” whined beetle. Tomorrow we will go to the supply store and buy some paint. Then go to the furniture store and get whatever you need… to make your room more roomie.” As she pivoted and left the room. I sat in my sleeping bag on the floor thinking about school and friends and all of my old friends. (Tess, Jake, Sophi, Josh, Lake and me,) They were all bug lovers so having a nice friend named Beetle is the best thing that could ever happen to them! But now things are going to be harder, no one will have a name like mine.

Bug

I was slouching on the bench organizing my binder when the mean girls came by, Tiffany, Anya and Mallory. (who was the leader.)    Those are their names, but they go by the T.A.M club. (when I heard the ‘T.A.M club’ I thought it was terrible, awful and mean!) I closed my binder and I jumped off the bench to run away, but I dropped my binder and I forgot to close the rings on the paper and the pages scattered! I quickly dropped on my hands and knees quickly grabbing the pages when Mallory said, “ Hey girls! Look at bugs crawling around!!”    

“Looks like she’s already growing antennae out of her little tiny skull! HA HA snort!” I stopped picking up my papers when they stepped closer and closer.

I started backing up then my back hit the bench when I whimpered desperately, “Please don’t hurt me.”  

“Ha! We arent that mean!” said Anya (he is a nice one of the group)

“Hey! I heard that you got an A+ on your math test!” said Tiffiny

“That’s right.” I said not really sure what to do.

“Well… Nice job nerd brain!” she hissed back with a snarl and Tiffiny and Mallory laughed as they kicked the pages and ran off.  “See you in class.” said Anya picking up some muddy pages and put them in my hands and ran off to join the others.

My name is a name that my parents gave me when I was born(obviously) because of the way that my parents met. 

My parents met at the Beatles band in Massachusetts.

They really like the Beatles Band.

I am writing about my personal favorite show.  This very special show is called Stranger things.

So basically I am going to do a stranger thing recap.  In the first season these boys are playing dungeons and dragons. The boys go back to their houses on their bikes, one of the boys is getting chased by a demogorgon. This boy’s name is Will. Will gets sucked into the upside down.  They soon meet this girl named Eleven. She of course has powers. This whole season is about El and the boys trying to track down Will and find him from the upside down. The upside down is opened by El because her cruel dad is a scientist and he pushed her to use her powers and she ripped a hole between the upside down and Hawkins Indiana.   At the end of the season Will’s mom Joyce finds him upside down.

   

The second season is about Will and how he gets sucked into the upside down at random moments. The second season also introduces the mind flayer. The mind flayer gets into your mind and makes you do what it wants. Like taking a cold bath. 

 

The third season is about how the Russains take over Hawkins and it is about the mind flayer finding people to feed on. This show is so very good but if you are afraid of flesh eating monsters then I do not recommend this show to you. I personally don’t like shows like this but this one is so well detailed.

I arrived at 2:15 pm, checking to make sure this was the right house I was sleeping over at! I slowly opened the car door feeling weird because I had never been to Abby’s house. By the way it looked like it was a pretty big house.

 I said bye to my brother and sister, I stepped out of the car grabbing my pillow and my sleeping bag my dad carried my other bag full of things for the sleepover! I felt excited now, I mean I was at my best friend’s birthday party/sleepover.

 Mr. M peeked around the corner of the upstairs in the garage, he saw me and my dad standing there wondering where to go. “You can put your stuff up here”. He said. My dad handed me my other bag to bring upstairs, as I walk up the stairs I was wondering what would the upstairs look like? I stepped on to a hard wood floor took a quick look around before Mr. M told me to put me bags wherever I wanted.

 I decided to put them next to what looked like Lily’s bag. I ran back down stairs to say goodbye to my dad, I jumped into his arms and hugged him tight and gave him a kiss. I know it was only one night but I was going to miss him a lot! I love you the most he said! I love you more. then I watched him leave. 

Time for the fun! Abby said coming around the corner of her house with Lily and Emmy skipping behind her to keep up. “Hi Cadence do you want to go bounce on the trampoline”? Asked Emily  hoping that I would say yes. Sure Emmy I would love to go on your trampoline! I replied.

 I was wearing pants and it was 80 degrees out! “ This is going to be the best party EVER! I mumbled to myself so no one else could hear me. When I walked around the corner of her house I saw the biggest trampoline ever,

 I could not believe that I would get to bounce on it! I took my shoes off on the porch and got on the trampoline. It felt like I was bouncing on a cloud I jumped so high! I forgot what it felt like to bounce on a trampoline, I used to have one but it was covered in brown tail moth and my dogs destroyed it.

Later that evening when everyone had arrived we all got in the pool to play a game called dead man, when we got bored of that we went to the trampoline and played dead man in there to. We just kept going back and forth for two whole hours.

After that long two but fun two hours we were slowly one by one going upstairs to change into clean clothes. When all of us were out of the water there were still girls on the trampoline playing. We did presents, Abby opened all of her wonderful presents then we played on the trampoline some more and girls were playing in Abby’s gigantic playroom. They had a lot of toys in the playroom that you could play with. 

After a while we were called for dinner. Dinner was pizza this pizza was very yummy. After dinner we were chilling. 

I was trying to figure out where the heck Lily and Grace went. I looked everywhere. I talked to the girls and everyone was soon looking for those two. It was becoming a serious problem that no one could find them. 

We told Abby’s mom and dad and they said that if they could not find the girls they were going to have to call their parents. After a lot more looking and yelling out there names they finally came out. They thought they heard someone yell let’s play hide and seek so they hid in Emily’s room and never came out. This was a very scary thing that had happened. Abby’s mom gave the two girls a warning to never do that again and if they ever hear someone calling there name they need to come out. We went to bed at 1:00 and the sleepover was so very fun.

Matt Tavares Visits Bowdoinham Community School

On December 9th Famous Matt Tavares Comes To Tiny Bowdoinham School!                  

Students were  amazed to see New Yorks best selling author and illustrator.                            Matt Tavares comes to Bowdoinham Community School. He believes that it is truly amazing to be a best selling author!   Bowdoinhams best teacher Mrs. Marc-Aurele invites Matt Tavares for a special visit. After they had already set a date, it was a coincidence that his newest book Dasher made it on the New York best selling list! 

Diana Marc-Aurele went to Nerd Camp and set up our visit with matt tavares. Diana we have to thank.   How would we have seen our special visitor if she hadn’t gone to the summer Nerd Camp Program?

 The whole school was dressed in Christmas sweaters and santa hats, all for our special   visitor. We tried to welcome Matt Tavares the best Bowdoinham could. Matt Tavares makes time for a writing workshop when he visits. Every class in the school gets to work with him at his workshop. Matt Tavareswas coming around to kids at the workshop and telling them about his strategies and helped us come up with something to draw.The workshop was to teach you that when you are sketching it doesn’t matter if you mess up it only matters what it comes out to look like.

 Every one had one piece of paper and a pencil, and when you are done you can color it in with colored pencils. Our drawings were displayed in our hallway for everyone to see.  Before Matt Tavares came grades ⅘ made posters to welcome him. Team ⅘ also wrote a page about there favorite book to display out in our hallway. 

 It’s definitely a change that  Bowdoinham school get to have such a famous author come to there school. 

 

“Matt Tavares is such a chill guy, when I was talking to him it felt like I was talking to just a normal adult.”Matt Tavares wanted  to have lunch with 5 students from grade three to grade five.

 “ This is absolutely the best day of my entire life, having lunch with a New Yorks best selling author !”  said Cadence A fifth grade girl was heading down to the library about to have lunch with Matt Tavares. Matt tavares wanted to have lunch with students. 

 

The lunch was mainly for teachers,  every teacher brought something yummy to eat. There was soup, bread, salad. 

The kids eating lunch with him were talking about authors and books.  Another thing the did was they talked about animation, one of the kids was talking about there favorite book when Matt Tavares said that he is best friends with the Author Cece Bell she wrote and illustrated  the book 

Eldeafo.

 

                       I looked out the window it was a snowy day.  Man was it coming down out there. “Hey Aisley I have a great idea.”  I said frantically, 

                “Me too let’s go outside!”  Aisley exclaimed excitedly.   “Beat you to the basement!” I yelled.  I ran first, down the hallway opened the basement door and ran down the stairs.  After that we didn’t talk about who won or what not because I didn’t want to rub it in her face.  We put on our snow pants, jumping up and down to try to get the rest of our stuff on while having our snow pants halfway on.  “Aisley my everything is still wet from earlier.”   

                 

  We were ready after 10 minutes when Aisley says bossely.  “Grab the snowball maker and the snow tubes!” “Please.” I said.  “Please” We were heading out the door.” 

         What should we do first?” “Oh oh I know we should build a snow fort behind the birm.  ”I yelled. Before we started to go play behind  the birm I wanted to go sledding. But we did rock paper scissors to see which thing to do first.  “Rock,” paper,“”scissors,“”shoot.” we said together. I got paper and Aisley got scissors I guess I lose. I was thinking.

                

We walked slowly to the birm which was on the other side of our house.  This is the hardest walk ever there is so much snow. I thought. When we got over there I grabbed the shovel to clear the path because I couldn’t get behind the birm without the path. 

               

 “Hey Aisley can you go grab the other shovel and help me so we can get in there?”  I asked. starting to shovel some snow. Its because this snow is heavy to lift all by myself.   “Na sorry Cadence I don’t do stuff like that I guess i’m too uh, what’s the words for it, oh yeah weak.”  Okay I thought to myself she is being sassy fine I will do all of the shoveling myself.

                 

After all of the shoveling was all done I look up and in 20 minutes Aisley made herself a snow chair and she sat there sneering at me.  “Oh Cadence you’re finally done shoveling! That took forever.” she mumbled. Aisley was being very rude and sassy today oh well. I thought.  We walk through the winter wonderland. ( it wasn’t a very long walk)

 when we first got back there we went to our special outdoor offices. 

                

We hang out a lot in the winter time because it’s magical and its really fun to play in the woods but still be close to your house.  “Aisley I love this being outside with you.” I said brightly as I walked over and gave her a big hug.

                

 STEP STEP STEP STEP STEP STEP STEP, “what was that!!!!!” “OM goodness gracious it is just Rudi Aisley  no need to be scared its just the dog.” That really scared me, I thought it was a spirit or a ghost or something.  I started to doze off it was really calming when your wet and freezing and it’s cold outside. Then in a few minutes I had been sleeping.

                  

       Aisley woke me up by screaming in my ear.  “CADENCE WAKE UP NOW CADENCE!!!!!” “WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING IN MY EAR?”   “Because I thought it would be funny!” I saw someone or something move at the scary house that has ghosts in it.

 

 That house has been there since the 1700 and its really old and we have seen ghosts moving in there before I would be very spooked if I lived in that house.

 

 I walked over from the woods to see what was over there. I saw a person, a girl and she looked my age. “Hi I’m Cadence.” I said frantically trying to figure out who was this girl and why was she at the creepy old house.

 

“Hi I’m Erin we just moved here from Duram.”  “hi” I said again. “do you want to come play at our house I am sure my dad will be fine with it.”  After a while of getting to know each other. “Oh no Cadence my mom is here to pick me up.” “Ok bye Aisley I love you!”   “Bye.”  Want to play outside? She Asked. yeah, sure.

 At that moment I knew Erin was my new FRIEND.  That day I got to learn about her family and her house and she got to come over and do crafts.  I realized that I had had a friend next door. I was so very happy. And to this day we are best friends!
